Kim Kardashian and Kanye West out on a date?
The estranged couple were spotted grabbing dinner with friends on Thursday (September 30) at Nobu in Malibu. Their group also left together in Kanye’s car, with the him driving and Kim riding shotgun while their friends piled in at the back.
For their night out, Kim rocked a lavender bodysuit, which she paired with a wine-colored leather trench coat while Kanye stepped out in all-black and sported baseball cap and dark shades.
However, this isn’t the only time the two of them have been spotted out together in a social setting. Back in August, they were also spotted grabbing a bite at another local Malibu restaurant – just the two of them.
Kim and Kanye are currently in the middle of a divorce, where both of them have petitioned for joint physical and legal custody of their four kids – eight-year-old North, five-year-old Saint, three-year-old Chicago, and two-year-old Psalm. The first few months following their split were reportedly “fraught” as they began the transition to becoming co-parents. At the time, Kanye reportedly cut off direct contact with Kim’s family. However, more recently, the exes definitely appear to be on more amicable terms.
They’ve since gone on a family outing with their children, taking them to the teamLab: Continuity exhibit at San Francisco’s Asian Art Museum in July – before opening hours, of course. Kim also brought their kids to support Kanye during his Donda listening events in August. He’s also following her again on social media.
Sources say that the former couple have been making an effort for a smoother transition to co-parenting.
“Kim wants the kids to stay connected to Kanye and will make that happen,” an insider told E!. “It’s very important to her that she has a healthy co-parenting relationship with Kanye and that the kids have strong relationships with both of their parents… It’s a huge priority for Kim and she’s doing everything she can.”
“There is still a lot of love there,” the source added. “But there’s no chance for a reconciliation romantically.”
But sparks of a rumored reconciliation began to fly after hearing Kanye’s lyrics about his and Kim’s compatibility on the album. Kim joining him on stage wearing a wedding dress in one of the events fueled the speculations even more.
“They are putting on a united front and are committed to trying to stay together — not sure if that means she will withdraw the divorce papers but they’re taking it day by day,” another source told HollywoodLife.
It looks like Kanye has been putting in quite the effort, too. When Kim attended the Met Gala earlier this month, she wore a bold all-black head-to-toe Balenciaga look. She also arrived at the event alongside the brand’s Creative Director Demna Gvasalia (it’s not uncommon for fashion designers to accompany their muses at the Met Gala). It turns out Kanye was the one who introduced the two of them to each other.
“Kim and Kanye’s relationship is in a much healthier space,” yet another source told Entertainment Tonight last month. “They have been speaking a lot more frequently and have been spending more time together on their own and as a family. Kanye is totally trying to win Kim back and she is considering it, but he still has a lot to prove to her. Their relationship had to start over in order for it to begin again, and there are still some things that he has to absolutely work on in order for things to progress.”
