WARNING: This post contains spoilers for the Supernatural series finale.

It’s the end of an era.

After 15 years, Supernatural closed the book on the story of two brothers, Sam and Dean Winchester – played by Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles, respectively – and their epic saga of monster hunting.

The show’s final episode aired Thursday (November 19), with pretty much all the storylines wrapped up in the episode prior. So, what’s a hunter to do now? The simple answer: they’re still at it, but minus all the apocalyptic stuff. However, a shocking death in the finale has fans seriously divided.

Sam and Dean happen across a nest of vampires and do their thing to make sure the baddies don’t harm any more innocents. They get the job done, of course. But a freak accident during the fight ends up killing Dean – but not before he tells Sam to carry on and live his life, and make him vow not to try bringing him back.

And many fans of the show were all in their feelings about having to say goodbye to not just the show, but also the beloved character.

“I’m not crying your crying 😭😭😭😭,” one fan tweeted.

“NO!!! 😭😭 #Supernatural,” another fan wrote.

“what the HECK. not me sobbing over this. STOPPPPPP #Supernatural,” one Twitter user shared.

“ive never cried on supernatural so much in my life #supernatural,” another expressed.

But not everyone was a fan of how things panned out for Dean.

“When we said we wanted a Dean monologue. After Cas, Jack and Sam had all had one. THIS WASNT WHAT WE MEANT. #spn #Supernatural #ThankYouSupernatural #SPNFamilyForever” one fan wrote.

“this better be a joke, it’s only been 10 minutes :/ #SupernaturalFinale #Supernatural,” another fan tweeted.

Dean’s death happens halfway through the finale, so his story doesn’t really end there. The episode continues to take fans on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. We later see him end up in heaven, where he reunited with fellow hunter and father figure Bobby Singer.

Sam, on the other hand, got to live a long life and raise his son, whom he after his brother. And it’s many years later that the brothers are reunited again.

Still, fans are divided about the ending.

“I just screamed so hard OH MY GOD DEAN MADE IT TO HEAVEN WITH BOBBY AND EVERYONE IS LIVING TOGETHER OH MY GOD DEAN GETS PEACE #Supernatural,” one fan shared.

“it’s not even funny anymore this just sucks #Supernatural,” another fan wrote.

“I think I missed the ending because my eyes were filled with tears 😭 #Supernatural #ThankYouSupernatural #SPNFamilyForever,” one person tweeted.

How do you feel about the ending?
