Kourtney Kardashian is rocking a new bling after getting engaged to Travis Barker.
In case you missed it, the couple took their relationship to the next level on Sunday (October 17). The Blink-182 drummer popped the question during a beach trip to Montecito, California, setting up a romantic sunset proposal on the beach, which he set up with elaborate arrangements of red roses and white candles.
Family and friends from both sides were there to celebrate with the couple afterwards and shared photos from the celebratory dinner – some of which have gone viral as it offered glimpses of Kourtney’s eye-catching new accessory.
Travis turned to jeweler-to-the-stars Lorraine Schwartz for Kourtney’s custom engagement ring, which features a jaw-dropping oval diamond set in a thin band.
“It’s a flawless, beautifully cut diamond stone,” Lorraine shared, via People.
The celebrity jeweler is also the one who designed Kim Kardashian’s engagement rings – both from ex-husband Kris Humphries and estranged husband Kanye West. And she dished on the process of designing the ring for Kourtney’s first engagement ring alongside Travis himself.
“I worked on it with Travis and he was a really big part of it,” Loraine adds. “He was really hands-on in the whole making of it. It’s gorgeous and they’re happy.”
While she didn’t disclose other specifics like the size of the stone and costs, experts estimate the gem to be around six-carats with a price tag of anywhere from $300,000 to upwards of $1 Million dollars, according to E! News.
“Since this is Kourtney’s first engagement, it’s of course a big deal,” a source told People. “Most of her family was there to celebrate. Two of Travis’ kids were there too. They enjoyed a private, family dinner at the hotel.”
Kourtney is mom to three children – 11-year-old Mason, eight-year-old Penelope, and six-year-old Reign – whom she shares with ex-boyfriend Scott Disick; Travis is dad to two children with ex-wife Shanna Moakler – 17-year-old Landon and 15-year-old Alabama. The two have been friends and neighbors for years before striking up a romance in January and going Instagram official in February.
They’ve since embarked on a whirlwind of PDA-filled trips together and even life-altering ones – like Kourtney helping Travis overcome his fear of flying after surviving a 2008 plane crash. They’ve also made their declarations of love permanent in ink.
The couple have also been seen on multiple outings bonding with each others’ kids – including a family trip with their respective children to Disneyland earlier this year. And things have only continued to get more serious from there.
According to another source, Travis got some help from Kourtney’s family in planning the surprise. And the venue he chose also hold a special significance for the couple.
“It was a complete surprise for Kourtney. Travis told her family that he planned to propose, but everyone was great at keeping it secret,” the source told the outlet. “The Rosewood is their favorite for short weekend getaways. They often stay at the hotel. This is why Travis proposed there. It’s a very special place to them, but it was also easier to keep everything a secret by proposing there.”
Kourtney and Travis’ engagement will be part of the Kardashian’s upcoming reality series on Hulu.
