Vogue Sues Drake & 21 Savage

Drake and 21 Savage just recently dropped their new collaborative album — and they are already facing legal troubles over their latest output.

Vogue publishers Conde Nast slapped Drake and 21 Savage with a lawsuit over the promos for “Her Loss.” The promotional work for the album saw the duo posing on what looks like a legit Vogue cover. This led fans to believe that the company would drop a special edition featuring the two.

Conde Nast, which owns Vogue, countered that this in fact is not the case — even as Drake gave the brand and editor-in chief Anna Wintour a shout out on social media for giving their blessing.

The company is claiming that Vogue and Anna “have not endorsed [“Her Loss] in any way.” They said they asked multiple times for promo materials using the Vogue brand to be taken down, but nothing was done.

Court docs stated that the rappers falsely promoted the Vogue cola on social media and put up posters of the “cover” in major cities. They also claimed that the duo’s teams sent out an email blast about “celebrating Drake’s Vogue cover.”

Conde Nast requested that a judge shut down the use of the Vogue mark immediately and is seeking at least $4M in damages.

Since then, a judge has indeed ordered the rappers to shut down all their album promotions using the fake magazine cover – at least for the meantime.
