Yikes! Halsey Facing Major Backlash After Making An Unintentionally Bad Joke On Social Media

Halsey was just trying to defend her new music from a negative review – but ended up having to defend herself for a whole lot more.

It all started when Pitchfork released a review of her latest album, Manic – and basically summed it up with this line: “Too much of this album sounds like the amorphous pop that you might associate with a miserable Lyft ride.”

Halsey went on Twitter to respond with, “Can the basement that they run pitchfork out of just collapse already?”

BUT, while she meant her tweet to be a joke, she unfortunately did not realize that Picthfork’s office is in One World Trade Center in New York City, which is the new skyscraper built on the site of the twin towers that collapsed on September 11.

Some were quick to point out her mistake.

“losing my mind thinking about the person on halsey’s team who had to tell her she just called for the collapse of one world trade,” reporter Ben Kesslen joked.

“Halsey mistakenly (??) advocating for another 9/11 over a Pitchfork album review will be the funniest thing that happens in 2020,” one Twitter-user wrote.

Halsey quickly deleted her tweet and clarified that she was just trying to make a joke, NOT call for another 9/11. “ABSOLUTELY deleted it upon realizing this,” she wrote in response. “Was just trying to make a joke! Intended zero harm. Just figured I could poke at them back with the same aloof passive aggression they poke at artists with! Clearly a misunderstanding ❤️.”

But her since-deleted tweets have already made headlines, and various outlets have come up with different variations of accusations.

While she hasn’t addressed any of them directly, she did tweet, “click bait garbage.”
