Zooey Deschanel and Jonathan Scott have taken a big step in their relationship: The couple have bought a house together!
The 41-year-old actress and 43-year-old HGTV star shared the happy news, saying how exited they are to finally move in and “see the kids grow up laughing and adventuring in the yard.”
The pair made the purchase back in May of 2020, but the pandemic as well as construction delays have caused a bit of turmoil. Still, Zooey and Jonathan are looking forward to moving in soon to their new abode.
In Jonathan’s magazine Drew + Jonathan Reveal, he wrote about meeting Zooey for the first time and how he just knew she was it for him. He sweetly said:
“Eight months into our relationship, I already knew Zooey was the yin to my yang, the PB to my J. We were on parallel paths toward the happiness we’d been seeking our whole lives.
Zooey and I met for the first time in 2019, shooting that most romantic of television shows: Carpool Karaoke. I obviously knew about her, but the on-screen experience isn’t the same thing as in real life. From the first moment she walked over to say hello, she had a bounce in her step and an energy about her that made me immediately take notice.”
About finding their dream home, he shared:
“As we pulled up the drive, it just seemed…magical. It sat on a little over an acre, and with its lush lawn and massive California sycamores, it looked like a park. Which is why when we first brought the kids by the property, they dubbed it the Park House.
And you know what happens when you name something, whether it’s a mangy stray dog or a beautiful home of your dreams? You keep it. The next thing you know, Zooey and I owned the Park House.”
And he also touched on the delays that they have been experiencing:
“Literally everyone on the planet who was building or renovating anything over the last two years is experiencing delays. Even in normal times, people get frustrated and suspect they’re being scammed by a contractor. But when you’re doing a major reno, you always, always, always find hidden problems. You just hope they don’t cost a lot of time and money.
But, of course, they did, and that’s OK. We have each other, and we have time—the rest of our lives together in this house. Our house. Our dream home, where we’ll see the kids grow up laughing and adventuring in the yard, where we’ll play host to friends and family.”
Zooey has two children with her ex-husband Jacob Pechenik, 4-year-old Charlie Wolf and 5-year-old Elsie Otter.
