Amber Rose isn’t holding back when it comes to discussing her past relationship with Kanye West and the impact it had on her image.

In a candid conversation on a recent episode of Just B with Bethenny Frankel, the 40-year-old model and entrepreneur delved into how her relationship with the rapper, which began in 2008, influenced her fashion choices and public persona.

“I am conservative actually. I have always been conservative since I was young,” Amber revealed, offering a glimpse into her personal style before fame took hold.

However, once her romance with Kanye propelled her into the spotlight, Amber found herself transformed into what she described as “this sexpot type of girl.” According to her account, Kanye, who is known for his keen eye for fashion, encouraged her to embrace a sexier image.

“That was my first relationship with a celebrity ever but also in the public eye. And he knows a lot about fashion and he always wanted me to dress very sexy,” she explained.

Feeling young and impressionable at the time, Amber went along with Kanye’s preferences, allowing her style to evolve in line with his vision. Even after their breakup in 2010, she struggled to shake off the “sexy” persona that had become synonymous with her public image, feeling pigeonholed into a single category.

“So when I was out on my own — without my first relationship that kind of brought me to the light — that’s what they wanted from me,” she shared.

Amber recounted facing pressure from producers and industry insiders who expected her to conform to a certain image, one that she felt didn’t truly represent her. Despite her efforts to resist being typecast, she found herself in situations where she was encouraged to play up her sex appeal for the camera.

“I remember fighting so hard to not be that person and no one would let me,” she recalled, reflecting on the challenges she encountered in asserting her identity.

Looking back on her early years in the spotlight, Amber admitted to feeling a sense of discomfort with the image she had been associated with, expressing how she now “cringes” at some of the choices made during that time.
