Billie Eilish just unfollowed EVERYONE on Instagram – even her brother Finneas! – and fans are buzzing!

On Wednesday (June 24), fans noticed that the number of Instagram accounts that the “Bad Guy” singer was following suddenly went from more than 600 to zero.

So far, Billie hasn’t explained the reason behind the bold move (her reps are also yet to respond to requests for comments), but fans are already sharing their speculations on Twitter.

Some fans think it might have something to do with the recent sexual assault allegations being made against the likes of Ansel Elgort, Justin Bieber and other celebrities. One fan referenced an Instagram Story Billie allegedly shared that read: “If I am following your abuser, DM me and I will unfollow them.”

Another fan wrote, “Billie Eilish did a social media cleanse and unfollowed EVERYONE on Instagram. Apparently, earlier today she posted an Instagram story saying “dm me if I’m following your abuser” but deleted it 30 minutes later.”

At one point, some fans pointed out that Billie was still following one account – Lana Del Rey’s. However, a visit to her profile now shows she doesn’t follow anyone.

Another theory is that she might just be fed up with social media. She already quit Twitter. And in February, she revealed that she no longer reads her comments on Instagram because “It was ruining my life.”

In recent weeks, Billie has been actively using her platform to voice her support the Black Lives Matter movement.

She has also used her platform to discuss body image – like her short film revolving around the topic of body shaming. The film, which she titled “Not My Responsibility,” was originally played as a video interlude during her concert in Miami, Florida in March, before the coronavirus pandemic, but the 18-year-old artist has since shared it on her Instagram.

Earlier this month, she opened up about fame and notoriety. “Look, I am clickbait at the moment. Anything with my name on it or anything I say or do can and will be used against me,” she told GQ Magazine U.K., noting how “everyone is hated and everyone is loved” at the same time.

“The thing I realised recently is this: when you get to a certain level of fame or notoriety, it doesn’t matter what you say or do, you are a certain level of known. You will be super hated. And super loved,” she added.
