Cara Delevingne is getting personal.

The 30-year-old model and actress spoke candidly about her personal journey in a new interview with Elle UK.

Among the many things she touched on was her sobriety. Cara talked about embracing being sober, saying:

“It hasn’t [been easy], but there have never been moments when I’m like, ‘This isn’t worth it.’ It’s been worth every second.

I just don’t know what it would take for me to give it up. I am stable. I’m calmer.”

She also talked about trusting herself now:

“Before, I didn’t trust myself. I second-guessed myself constantly. There was a lot of anxiety involved. Now I just feel free of that.”

Cara delved into matters of the heart, opening up about her grounding relationship with her musician girlfriend Minke [Leah Mason]:

“My girlfriend has been really wonderful in introducing me to a lot of things and people.

Being with my girlfriend, in this relationship, there are just so many things that came at once that have made me so happy and comfortable with who I am.”

She spoke about the importance of queer joy:

“Now more than ever, in England and in the US. It’s a scary time for queer people. But the more that we’re met with fear, the more joy we have to bring. Because no one can take that joy away, no matter what. We’re not going anywhere.”

And she shared her thoughts on the importance of representation:

“[Representation is important] especially for young people, who feel like they’re alone, to see people who are like them — and to see anyone in the umbrella of the LGBTQIA+ flag. It’s all family.”
