Ginuwine is sharing his thoughts about that anecdote Britney Spears shared on her memoir, The Woman In Me, about him and Justin Timberlake.

In case you missed it, the 42-year-old Princess Of Pop unleashed her memoir earlier in the fall. Her book included several revelations about her years-long and very high-profile relationship with Justin. One of the stories that Britney told about her time with the musician and Trolls star involved him adapting a blaccent as he interacted with Ginuwine,

In the memoir, Britney wrote that Justin “tried too hard” to relate to Black musicians, recalling an alleged run-in with Ginuwine as an example:

J got all excited and said, so loud, ‘Oh yeah, fo shiz, fo shiz! Ginuwiiiine! What’s up, homie,’”

The said anecdote quickly went viral, in large thanks to narrator Michelle Williams’ retelling of it in the audiobook of Britney’s best-selling book.

In a new interview with People, Ginuwine opened up about the anecdote. Here’s what he had to say:

“Yeah, yeah, I definitely heard about it. People were calling about that. But I can tell you I don’t remember that happening. I truly don’t remember that happening. If Justin would’ve did something like that, I probably would’ve looked at him like, ‘Why are you acting like that?’”

He doubled down on not remembering the moment:

“If he did that, that would be something that I would remember. That would’ve definitely stuck out. So nah, I don’t remember that happening.”
