In Beauty Secrets for Vogue, the 38-year-old Eternals star revealed what she does to achieve a smudge-free red lip look, calling it an easy way to get “make out lips” or “snogging lips”! Here’s what she said:
“I’m going to show you a modern red lip. On the red carpet sometimes I’ve done it quite strong, with a red lip liner, really defined it. This is much easier to wear.
A makeup artist showed me this trick – I think she called it ‘snog lip look’ – I don’t know if you Americans know what snogging is. It’s…make out lips. Snogging lips.”
So how does Gemma get it done?
1. Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Eyeliner
“Rather than using a red lip liner, I like to do an invisible lip line, so I’m going to use this.”
2. L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche No. 125 Maison Marais
“Today I’m going to be using L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche No. 125 Maison Marais” – which she applied on the center of her lips.
3. Fluffy eyeshadow brush
“The trick is, we use a fluffy eyeshadow brush and we just gently buff out the color.”
She went on to say:
“We’re not doing any hard lines. Really soft focus. The great thing about this is it’s a really easy way to wear a red look. I’m not going to be worried about it smudging…ending up all over half of my face even if I’m wearing a mask. “
Gemma hilariously ended by quipping:
“Don’t really want a Joker situation going on!”
