The Friends reunion special has dropped and some juicy tidbits that fans have been dying to know were revealed – like why Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer’s chemistry on camera was so palpable.

Their characters, Ross and Rachel are one of the most iconic TV couples of our generation. Apparently, it’s because Jen and David ALMOST actually became Ross and Rachel IRL. They! Were! Majorly! Crushing! On! Each! Other!

“The first season, we– I had a major crush on Jen,” David admits in one part of the special.

And Jen responded to that confession with: “It was reciprocated.”

OMG!

“At some point, we were both crushing hard on each other,” David continues. “But it was like two ships passing, because one of us was always in a relationship. And we never crossed that boundary. We respected that.”

BUT Matt Le Blanc, a.k.a. Joey, was totally fake-coughing “Bulls—t” when he said that.

And the reason why audiences could feel all the tension on the screen? “We just channeled all of our adoration and love for each other into Ross and Rachel,” Jen explained.

“I remember saying one time to David, ‘It’s gonna be such a bummer if the first time you and I actually kiss is gonna be on national television,'” she adds. “Sure enough, first time we kissed was in that coffee shop.”

The whole cast says no one ever really hooked up with any of their castmates, but Jen and David admit they had their ~moments~.

“I thought back on the first year or two, you know, when we had breaks from rehearsal, there were moments when we would cuddle on the couch,” David recalls later on, which Jen confirmed, saying, “We would spoon and fall asleep on the couch.”

“And I’m thinking, how did not everyone know we were crushing on each other?” David muses.

Apparently, some already knew.

“We knew,” Matthew Perry, a.k.a. Chandler replies. Courtney Cox, a.k.a. Monica, also chimed in, “We knew, for sure!”

So, by now, you’re probably asking, why didn’t JenVid ever become an actual thing?

“It was a situation that we, we couldn’t do anything about it,” David notes.

And Courtney thinks it’s for the best.

“If you had, and it didn’t work out, it would have probably not been as great.”

However, Courtney still got pretty emotional when she re-watched that episode of Ross and Rachel’s first kiss.

“I was, like, weeping. The tension… it was just palpable. It was just perfect,” she says. “Man, that was something.”

To which Jennifer joked, “We were really just not great actors.”

Still, JenVid shippers are positively giddy with excitement with this new revelation.

“JENVID CONFIRMED,JENVID CONFIRMED AAAAAAAA,” one fan celebrated on Twitter.

“So you’re telling me that @DavidSchwimmer and @JenniferAnnistn [sic] crushed on each other while they played ross and rachel on #friends…gimme a min to wrap my head around this!!” another person wrote.

The reunion is bittersweet though – because while fans are ecstatic about the whole cast coming together once again, it’s for the last time.

“Honestly, this will really make me cry, but this will be the last time that we’re ever asked about the show as a group that we will do this,” Courtney said. “Like, we’re not going to do this [again] in 15 more years.”

Well, at least on camera. But it looks like they’ll still be getting together off cam.

“I’ll tell you one thing: we are not waiting so long to have dinner,” she added.

“No we will not,” Jennifer agreed. “We will not wait that long to get together.”

So. Much. Feels.
