A$AP Rocky is back — and he’s not easing into his return. The rapper has officially released his fourth studio album, DON’T BE DUMB, through A$AP Worldwide and RCA Records. It marks his first full-length project in eight years, and the buzz around it has been massive.
The anticipation wasn’t just hype. Before the album even dropped, it sold over 130,000 vinyl units. It also became Spotify’s most pre-saved hip-hop album, surpassing one million saves worldwide. Those numbers aren’t just impressive — they show that fans have been waiting for Rocky to return in a big way.
The album features a wide-ranging list of collaborators. The lineup includes BossMan Dlow, Brent Faiyaz, Danny Elfman, Doechii, Gorillaz, Jon Batiste, Jessica Pratt, Slay Squad, Thundercat, Tyler, The Creator, Westside Gunn, and will.i.am. Notably, Elfman and Thundercat appear in the cinematic video for “Punk Rocky,” performing as part of an on-screen band.
The pre-release singles “Punk Rocky” and “Helicopter” helped build momentum for the full project. Critics responded with praise. Variety said “Punk Rocky” set “a new standard in humor and surreality,” while Rolling Stone noted that the upcoming album “is shaping up to be one of Rocky’s most creative yet.”
If the music alone wasn’t enough, the visuals also made a statement. The album artwork was created with filmmaker Tim Burton, featuring six of Rocky’s alter egos drawn in Burton’s iconic style. The personas — GR1M, MR. MAYERS, RUGAHAND, BABUSHKA BOI, DUMMY, and SHIRTHEAD — represent defining chapters of Rocky’s career. Together, they expand the visual world of DON’T BE DUMB and give the album a clear, theatrical identity.
Rocky also teamed up with Quince and Bilt for exclusive vinyl editions. These releases add another layer to the album’s aesthetic and cultural footprint, offering fans a collectible way to experience the project.
The album release follows a major year for Rocky, both in music and beyond. He served as co-chair of the 2025 Met Gala, appeared in two A24 films, and took on new leadership roles with Ray-Ban and Chanel. That momentum clearly carried into his music, giving DON’T BE DUMB a sense of inevitability — like this was always going to be the moment he returned.
And with the album now out, the question is no longer “Is Rocky back?” It’s more like: “What does he do next?”
Because with DON’T BE DUMB, A$AP Rocky has reminded everyone that he doesn’t just make music — he creates entire worlds. And this one is loud, strange, playful, and unmistakably him.
