Adam Driver Has This to Say About Lena Dunham’s ‘Famesick’ Allegations

Adam Driver is keeping things brief.

The actor recently addressed questions surrounding claims made by his former Girls co-star Lena Dunham in her memoir Famesick, and while curiosity around the subject has grown online, Driver isn’t offering much more than a one-line response.

The conversation began after Dunham’s book, released last month, included personal reflections and behind-the-scenes memories from her years creating and starring in HBO’s Girls. Throughout the memoir, she revisits experiences from different periods of her life and career, including interactions with people who became central figures during the show’s run.

Among the moments drawing attention was one involving Driver, who played the often unpredictable Adam Sackler throughout the series’ six-season run.

In the passage, Dunham described an intense rehearsal experience that left a lasting impression on her.

She wrote:

“I remember doing a fight scene with Adam and how scary it was to meet someone so totally present with such absence. Late one night, as we practiced lines in my trailer, I found that mine were suddenly gone. I knew I’d written them. I’d known them only minutes before. But when I opened my mouth, all that came out was a stammer — until finally, Adam screamed, ‘FKING SAY SOMETHING’ and hurled a chair at the wall next to me. ‘WAKE THE FK UP,’ he told me. ‘I’M SICK OF WATCHING YOU JUST STARE.’”

Following the book’s release, excerpts began circulating online, prompting conversations among fans of the HBO series and raising questions about what exactly happened during those years behind the scenes.

Naturally, attention soon shifted toward Driver.

While attending the Cannes Film Festival, the actor was asked directly for his thoughts regarding Dunham’s comments and whether he wanted to respond to the allegations outlined in the memoir.

Rather than provide a detailed explanation or dispute the story publicly, Driver opted for humor.

“I have no comment on any of that. I’m saving it all for my book,” he responded.

The answer immediately caught attention online, with many interpreting it as a deliberately light and carefully measured way of sidestepping a deeper discussion.

Driver has long maintained a reputation for being intensely private despite his high-profile career. Unlike many actors working at his level, he rarely addresses speculation, avoids oversharing details about his personal life, and generally stays away from headline-driven back-and-forth exchanges.
