Anne Heche is in a coma after her very scary car crash over the weekend in Los Angeles.

The 53-year-old actress has been hospitalized since Friday (August 5) after she drove a car into a home in the Mar Vista area of LA. Her car caught on fire. Firefighters had to fight the flames for 65 minutes before she could be pulled out from the wreckage.

Following the incident, her rep released a statement saying that she was stable:

“Anne is currently in stable condition. Her family and friends ask for your thoughts and prayers and to respect her privacy during this difficult time.”

On Monday afternoon (August 8) however, Anne’s rep provided a new update to CNN, much graver than the initial statement:

“Over the weekend a representative stated that Anne was in stable condition but that information as inaccurate.

She has always remained in critical condition, slipping into a coma following the incident.

She has a significant pulmonary injury requiring mechanical ventilation and burns that require surgical intervention. She is currently being treated at the Grossman Burn Center.”

A statement was also released to Deadline, in which her rep said:

“At this time Anne is in extreme critical condition she has a significant pulmonary injury requiring mechanical ventilation and burns that require surgical intervention.

She is in a coma and has not regained consciousness since shortly after the accident.”
