Billie Eilish ended the final night of her Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour with a major surprise — and it’s one fans have been eagerly hoping for. During her last show on Sunday night (November 23) at the Chase Center in San Francisco, the 23-year-old singer announced that the tour is officially coming to the big screen as a 3D concert film, complete with a release date.
Standing in front of a roaring crowd, Billie revealed that Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour (Live in 3D) will premiere in theaters on March 20, 2026, marking her first immersive 3D concert experience — and one she personally helped bring to life alongside legendary filmmaker James Cameron.
After the show, she took to Instagram to share the news with fans who weren’t in the arena, writing: “HIT ME HARD AND SOFT: THE TOUR (LIVE IN 3D) coming to theatres on march 20th 2026 !!!! 🥳🥳🥳 this has been one of my favorite tours everrrrrr and being able to capture it and co-direct this film with @jamescameronofficial has truly been a dream come true. can’t wait for you all to see it :’)🎥⭐️🤭💙”
She continued in her Instagram Story, adding: “sooo sad tour is over but SO glad we have this movie of the show coming to theatres march 20th 2026!!!”
Billie is no stranger to cinematic experiences — her documentary The World’s a Little Blurry drew massive praise for its rawness and artistry — but this new project marks her biggest leap yet into visually immersive filmmaking. Working with James Cameron, known for Avatar, Titanic, and groundbreaking technical innovation, signals just how ambitious this project is.
The concert film was captured throughout the world tour, which kicked off on September 29, 2024 in Quebec, Canada. From the very start, fans suspected something special was happening behind the scenes. Cameras were everywhere. Crews moved with purpose. Shots were clearly planned. And now, fans finally know why.
The upcoming movie is expected to combine Billie’s emotionally charged performances with stunning 3D visuals, creating an in-the-crowd, on-the-stage, fully transported viewing experience. With an artist as expressive and theatrical as Billie — and a director with Cameron’s cinematic eye — the film is already shaping up to be one of the most anticipated music projects of 2026.
This announcement also comes at a time when Billie and her brother/collaborator Finneas have been working on new music. Last month, Finneas confirmed that the two were deep into the creative process, hinting that something fresh and exciting is on the horizon. Combined with the movie, it’s clear Billie is ushering in a new era — and she’s doing it with intention, creativity, and the kind of boundary-pushing vision that has defined her career from the start.
The countdown to March 20, 2026 officially begins.
