Billie Eilish has referenced a past relationship in a few interviews, but has been candid about wanting to keep details of her personal life on the DL. However, fans have speculated about a romance between Billie and Brandon Quention Adams, a.k.a. rapper 7: AMP.
Fans are aware of their friendship since he’s posted photos of Billie on his socials, but neither have publicly confirmed a romantic relationship – until now.
In her new Apple TV+ documentary, The World’s A Little Blurry, we finally get a close look of Billie’s relationship with him – she calls him Q – and the events that led to their 2019 breakup.
Q appears in a lot Billie’s major life moments – including her 17th birthday and Coachella debut – but it seems Billie’s demanding schedule and Q’s increasing distant behavior took its toll on the relationship.
In June 2019, she opened up about her recent breakup.
“I just wasn’t happy. And I didn’t want the same things he wanted and I don’t think that’s fair, for him,” she said. “I don’t think you should be in a relationship, super excited about certain things that the other person couldn’t care less about.”
“And there was just a lack of effort, I think. I literally was just like, ‘Dude, you don’t even have enough love to love yourself, you can’t love me. And you don’t. Like, you think you do.'”
“I do love him, though, which is what made it harder,” she added. “‘Cause I’m not over him. I didn’t find someone else. I didn’t stop having love for him. I just, like, spent time away from him for a little bit and I was like, ‘Wow. I’m missing so much because I’m worried about you all the time.'”
And fans who got to see her perform in New York City that time will recall that Billie cried while performing “I Love You.”
Q still greeted Billie “Happy Birthday” on social media following the breakup.
However, when Billie sat down with GQ in 2020, she revealed how she never felt “desired” in her past relationships.
“My past boyfriends never made me feel desired. None of them,” Eilish said. “And it’s a big thing in my life that I feel I have never been physically desired by somebody.”
The documentary follows Billie’s rise to stardom – from going viral with “Ocean Eyes” to winning GRAMMYs for her wildly successful debut album, When We Fall Asleep Where Do We Go – and touches on the pitfalls and pressures of fame as a teenager in the spotlight.
