Ed Sheeran is taking over Netflix.
The 34-year-old global hitmaker is set to star in One Shot, a new music experience that blends performance, storytelling, and pure spontaneity. The project, announced Monday (October 6), comes from Adolescence director Philip Barantini and acclaimed producer Ben Winston — and promises to show fans a completely new side of Ed’s artistry.
According to Netflix, the special will “take viewers on a mesmerizing journey, during one afternoon, in real time, as he travels the streets of New York City, performing his greatest hits, captured in a single take.”
In true Ed Sheeran fashion, the project is more than just a concert film — it’s an immersive experience. Cameras follow him through New York’s buzzing streets, hopping from impromptu sidewalk sessions to jam-packed subway cars, with plenty of unexpected fan encounters along the way.
“From impromptu performances on bustling sidewalks and subway cars, to intimate interactions with fans and passersby, Ed Sheeran’s journey through New York will be captured in a series of unforgettable moments, highlighting the pandemonium and excitement that follows,” Netflix teased in a statement.
The entire film unfolds in real time, giving the audience the sense of walking alongside Ed — guitar in hand, heart on sleeve — as he reimagines what a music special can be.
Set to premiere globally on November 21, One Shot is shaping up to be a love letter to live performance, creativity, and connection. It’s also the perfect follow-up to Ed’s past projects that blurred the line between music and storytelling, from Songwriter to The Sum of It All.
Fans can expect stripped-back versions of some of his biggest hits, along with a few surprises — all shot in one continuous, unbroken take. If anyone can pull off that kind of magic, it’s Ed Sheeran.
