Idris Elba is getting candid about those James Bond casting rumors.
The 50-year-old actor’s name has been in the realm of speculations for quite a while now over who will replace Daniel Craig in the iconic 007.
Now, in a new podcast appearance, Idris has revealed that the idea became less appealing to him.
While on SmartLess, he shared that he went from being “super complimented” by the speculations to downright frustrated. Speaking to hosts Will Arnott, Jason Bateman. And Sean Hayes, he said:
“We’re all store and we understand that that role is one of those sort of coveted types.
It’s like being named Sexiest Man.”
Idris went on to explain:
“Essentially, it was a huge compliment that every corner of the world – except for some corners, which we will not talk about – were really happy about the idea that I could be considered.
Those that weren’t happy about the idea made the whole thing disgusting and off-putting, because it became about race. It became about nonsense, and I got the brunt of it.”
