In a touching tribute to an unforgettable creative brotherhood, Jacob Elordi has signed on to perform the audiobook narration for his late co-star Eric Dane’s forthcoming posthumous memoir, My Book of Days: A Memoir in Moments.
Across three seasons of HBO’s critically acclaimed drama Euphoria, Elordi and Dane captivated audiences as the volatile father-son duo Nate and Cal Jacobs. Off-camera, however, the two actors developed a bond grounded in deep mutual artistic admiration.
Publisher Penguin Random House confirmed that the 29-year-old Australian actor will read the vast majority of the text. Philanthropist and author Maria Shriver will narrate the memoir’s introductory “Dear Reader” chapter, which she wrote herself. The book is being published under Shriver’s imprint, The Open Field, with an official release date slated for November 3.
Prior to his death in February following a courageous battle with ALS, Dane spoke glowingly of his working dynamic with Elordi:
“Jacob and I have a pretty profound amount of respect for each other off set,” Dane shared in an interview with TooFab. “He’s a really great person. And he’s a lot of fun to work with. He’s a super committed actor, which allows us to sort of talk craft here and there. And we love doing that. It’s just a great time working with him.”
Following Dane’s passing, Shriver paid tribute to the beloved star’s dedication to his family and his legacy:
“I was honored he chose my publishing imprint to publish his memoir,” Shriver expressed. “He told me he wanted his family to know how much he loved them, and he wanted to leave them a story they could be proud of. My love goes out to his family, and to all those battling this cruel disease, as well as all those caring for [someone] battling it.”
By stepping into the recording booth to give voice to Dane’s final written words, Elordi ensures that his late friend’s story will be delivered to listeners with the exact warmth, nuance, and reverence it deserves.
