Jessica Simpson is celebrating eight years of clarity, courage, and self-discovery.
The 45-year-old singer took to Instagram on November 1 to mark eight years since she decided to stop drinking — a choice that she says changed her life entirely.
“8 years ago today I made the choice to confront, to confess and to let go of the self sabotaging parts of my life that I was choosing. Making that decision allowed me to fully live in the pursuit of God’s purpose for my life. Alcohol silenced my intuition, blocked my dreams and chased my circulating fears of complacency,” she wrote alongside a radiant selfie.
“Today I am clear. Today I am driven by faith,” Jessica continued. “Both fear and faith are something that we feel and may not see, I’m so happy I chose faith over fear. It was not in the fight that I found my strength, it was in the surrender.”
Her words struck a chord with fans, many of whom have followed her deeply personal journey since she first opened up about her struggles in her 2020 memoir Open Book.
Back then, Jessica described the moment she knew she needed help. Since then, she’s embraced motherhood, entrepreneurship, and a grounded sense of peace.
Now, eight years later, that strength continues to define her.
Her sobriety milestone also arrives just ahead of her much-anticipated return to the stage, as she prepares for a one-night-only concert in Las Vegas — a symbolic full-circle moment for the singer-songwriter who’s rediscovered her voice, both literally and figuratively.
