Lily Collins is opening up about a relationship in her past what was very emotionally and verbally abusive.
The 33-year-old Emily In Paris star spoke about the toxic relationship in an appearance on the We Can Do Hard Things podcast.
Lily shared what drew her into having a relationship with a man who she said made her “feel very small” and called her a “whore”:
“A lot of it was he chose me. I leaned into what it was that he wanted me to be like. Wanted me to say or not say. Wear, not wear. Do, not do. There was a lot of control. A lot of emotional abuse.”
She further recounted:
“He would call me ‘Little Lily’. He’d use awful words about me in terms of what I was wearing and would call me a whore and all these things.”
She opened up about how being treated this way affected her:
“I became quite silent and comfortable in silences and feeling like I had to make myself small to feel super safe.”
Lily added that the horrific experience “led her to therapy” and also made her physically ill.
