Lizzo is speaking out — and doing so with clarity, conviction, and relief — following a major legal development that marks a turning point in a case that has followed her for more than a year.

In 2023, the 37-year-old Grammy-winning artist was sued by three former backup dancers — Arianna Davis, Noelle Rodriguez, and Crystal Williams — who accused her of fat-shaming and sexual harassment. The allegations sent shockwaves through pop culture, clashing sharply with Lizzo’s long-standing public advocacy for body positivity, self-love, and inclusivity.

Now, those fat-shaming claims have officially been dropped.

On December 12, Lizzo’s attorney Marty Singer and his law partner Melissa Glass told TMZ that the accusations lacked merit and were contradicted by testimony from 18 witnesses. According to the legal team, the court found no evidence supporting the claim that Lizzo fired anyone due to weight gain.

Instead, the attorneys stated that Arianna Davis was terminated for making an unauthorized recording of Lizzo during a private meeting and sending it to Crystal Williams, who was no longer employed on The Special Tour. A judge ruled that the firing was justified due to the secret recording, and the accusers subsequently dropped their appeal related to the fat-shaming allegations.

After the claims were dismissed, Lizzo addressed the matter directly on Instagram, breaking her silence in a statement that felt both measured and deeply personal.

“The fat shaming allegations against me have been officially dropped by my accusers. They conceded that it had no merit in court,” Lizzo wrote. “There was no evidence that I fired them because they gained weight. Because it never happened. Now the truth is finally out.”

She continued, reinforcing what she says has always been at the core of her values:

“They weren’t fired for gaining weight. They were fired for taking a private recording of me without my consent and sending it off to ex employees. I have never fired an employee for gaining weight. I have only encouraged and supported people with bigger bodies and shared my platform with them.”

For Lizzo, the emotional toll of the accusations was immense — even as she chose to let the legal process play out without public rebuttal.

“This claim has haunted me since the day it came out,” she shared. “It has been devastating to suffer through this in silence but I let my lawyers lead and I’m so grateful for this victory.”

Still, the story isn’t entirely over. Lizzo emphasized that while the fat-shaming allegations have been dropped, she remains in the middle of an ongoing legal fight.

“I am still in a legal battle. I am not settling. I will be fighting every single claim until the truth is out.”

For an artist whose career has been built on authenticity and empowerment, the ruling offers a moment of validation — but also underscores the personal cost of public scrutiny. As Lizzo continues navigating the legal process, she does so with her voice reclaimed, her stance unwavering, and her supporters watching closely.
