If you’ve been hoping for a Miley Cyrus world tour anytime soon, it looks like you might be waiting a while. In a recent appearance on Good Morning America, the superstar opened up about why she’s not itching to get back on the road—and she got refreshingly honest about it.

“I do have the physical ability and I have the opportunities to tour. I wish I had the desire but I don’t,” Miley said plainly.

She added that touring simply doesn’t align with where she is in life right now—especially when it comes to mental health and sobriety.

“I also don’t think there’s actually an infrastructure that supports artists. The artists like Prince, that are not here today, that lived such a high-intensity lifestyle. You’re out on the road, and it’s hard to maintain sobriety when you’re on the road, which is a really important pillar of stability in my life. Not only losing their life but losing their minds.”

It’s a sobering truth about the pressure performers face. For Miley, keeping her peace takes precedence over playing sold-out stadiums.

“None of this that I create would ever be possible without the way that I think about things. I do think it’s really hard to keep mental wellness. You have so many thousands of people screaming at you. You feel a lot of love, then you totally crash at the end of the show. You start thinking one person loving you is not enough. It needs to be 10,000. It needs to be 80,000,” she explained.

And just to be clear—she’s not avoiding touring out of fear. Far from it.

“I like to do things I’m afraid of. I jumped out of airplanes, I performed for 150,000 people, I stood toe to toe with Beyoncé,” she said.

For now, Miley is choosing what works for her—and being totally unapologetic about it.
