Rege-Jean Page is touching on his Bridgerton exit.
In an interview for the 29th annual Vanity Fair Hollywood issue, the 34-year-old actor was asked about why he actually left Bridgerton after the first season. The topic of whether it was because he did not want to be “pigeon-holed” came up, but he clarified what really drove him to leave the hit Netflix series, explaining:
“It’s much simpler than that. I signed up to do a job and I did the job and then I did some other jobs. That’s it. That’s the story.
I wish it was more glamorous than hat. [After] we finished the story, the temptation would be to roll with the distractions and go, ‘Oh, well, the story really went well so we can kind of change this up and make some other stuff up, I guess.’
That was never what we’d signed up to do.”
Rege-Jean also spoke about being labeled the most handsome man in the world by a plastic surgeon who conducted a scientific study, laughingly saying:
“Allegedly. No one’s proven it in a court of law.”
