Sabrina Carpenter is back with a bang—and a brand-new album. The 26-year-old singer has officially released Man’s Best Friend, marking her seventh studio record and her third project since signing with Island Records.
The release follows the massive success of her last album, Short n’ Sweet, which not only topped the charts but also earned Sabrina two Grammy Awards: Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Pop Solo Performance for her viral smash hit “Espresso.”
The new album has already generated huge buzz, thanks in part to its lead single, “Manchild,” which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The track’s music video is currently up for five MTV Video Music Awards—a testament to Sabrina’s rising dominance in the pop world.
Now, the second single, “Tears,” is stepping into the spotlight. The song comes in as track two on the album and showcases Sabrina’s signature blend of playful lyrics and edgy storytelling.
So, how can fans get their hands on the album? It’s available to download right now on iTunes, Amazon, or wherever digital music is sold. Vinyl collectors can grab a copy on Amazon, and streaming is available across platforms including Spotify.
The single “Tears” has already caught attention for its cheeky and daring lyrics. Sabrina explains through the song that what really attracts her is when a guy treats her decently, showing initiative and communication—what she calls her “ideal foreplay.”
In the track, she sings:
“I get wet at the thought of you (Uh-huh) / Being a responsible guy (So responsible) (Shikitah) / Treating me like you’re supposed to do (Uh-huh) / Tears run down my thighs.”
The music video pushes the concept even further. Directed with a cinematic flair, it begins with Sabrina stepping into a spooky house where she encounters drag performers, led by none other than two-time Oscar-nominated actor Colman Domingo. From there, things spiral into a surreal, visually rich journey.
At one point, Sabrina is stripped down to lingerie and guided deeper into the eerie yet mesmerizing house. The storyline unfolds with bold theatrics, ultimately ending with a shock twist: after leaving the house, Sabrina meets a man who approaches her with concern. Instead of a romantic resolution, Sabrina declares that he has to die.
“It’s a thing. Someone has to die every video. I’m sorry,” Sabrina explains at the end, before tossing a shoe at him. The heel pierces his heart in an over-the-top, campy finale. That final role is played by actor Joe Apollonio.
Between the infectious pop hooks, audacious visuals, and daring storytelling, Man’s Best Friend is shaping up to be one of Sabrina’s most ambitious eras yet. Fans who loved Espresso and Short n’ Sweet will likely find themselves hooked once again—this time with even more edge.
