Sydney Sweeney will no longer appear in The Devil Wears Prada 2, despite previously filming a cameo for the highly anticipated sequel.

The development comes after reports confirmed that her scene was removed during the editing process. According to a source cited by Entertainment Weekly, the decision was made as part of a “creative decision.”

Sweeney had been spotted on set during production last summer, prompting widespread speculation about her involvement. It was later understood that she filmed a brief cameo appearance in which she played herself.

The scene reportedly featured Sweeney being styled by Emily Blunt’s returning character and was expected to appear early in the film. The segment was described as lasting approximately three minutes.

However, during post-production, the creative team determined that the scene did not align with the film’s overall structure.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the scene “did not work structurally with the rest of the sequence, and that the team working on the movie was grateful for her participation, making the decision to remove the bit a difficult one.”

The decision reflects a common part of the filmmaking process. Even completed scenes—sometimes involving well-known actors—can be removed if they disrupt pacing, tone, or narrative flow.

This is not an isolated case.

Recent examples include Lola Tung and Nicholas Alexander Chavez being cut from the latest I Know What You Did Last Summer installment, as well as Simone Ashley being removed from the F1 film, despite being involved in production.
