Zara Larsson is using her platform to speak candidly about immigration enforcement — and how it has directly affected her personal life.

The Swedish pop star shared a series of unfiltered Instagram Stories on Saturday, January 10, voicing strong opposition to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Her comments followed reports that a Minnesota woman was shot and killed by an ICE agent earlier in the week, an incident that sparked widespread outrage.

In one of her posts, Larsson made her stance unmistakably clear.

“I love immigrants, I love criminals, I love trans people, I love abortions, I love queers, I love sl–ty women, I love contraception, I love welfare, I love socialism, I f–king hate ICE.”

After receiving messages questioning her language, Larsson expanded on her perspective by sharing a deeply personal example involving her longtime partner.

“The reason why my sweet, smart, generous, talented, thoughtful man can’t come to the US – AT ALL – to visit me ever since we got together 6 years ago is because he has a criminal record,” she wrote. “Guess for what? WEED! Hahahahaha like?? Who gives a f–king f–k?!?”

Larsson is in a relationship with Swedish dancer Lamin Holmén. She later clarified that he no longer even has a criminal record, explaining that so much time has passed since the offense that it has officially been removed — yet the travel restrictions remain in place.

She went on to criticize the broader system, noting that non-violent offenses frequently lead to incarceration, disproportionately affecting marginalized communities.

“Idk about yall but I’d rather have someone smoking crack on my couch than a f–king ICE agent ewwwwwwwww. They’re criminals too. Killing, kidnapping, violent, hateful ones,” she added.

Despite the intensity of her criticism, Larsson ended her series of posts with a complicated reflection that acknowledged the humanity of individuals within the system she condemns.

“So maybe not love ICE… but love the child they used to be that still lives inside of them somewhere. We can people. I believe that. I have to believe that. F–k ICE.”

Larsson has consistently spoken out on issues including feminism, LGBTQ+ rights, and social justice. Her willingness to connect political issues to lived experience has made her both a polarizing and respected voice in pop culture.
