We’ve known it for a long time, and now it’s official: Paul Rudd is the Sexiest Man Alive.
People revealed on Tuesday (November 9) that Paul Rudd is their 2021 Sexiest Man Alive. Yes, that’s right, the 52-year-old actor is this year’s title holder — and may we say, it’s a very well-deserved honor!
In his cover story with People, Paul shared that the only person he told about being named Sexiest Man Alive prior to the announcement was his wife, Julie Yaeger. And she had the most adorable reaction to the news. Paul recounted:
“She was stupefied. But you know she was very sweet about it. After some giggling and shock, she said, ‘Oh, they got it right.’ And that was very sweet.”
He then hilariously quipped:
“She was probably not telling the truth, but what’s she going to say?”
Paul seems to be taking the honor true to form, staying humble and grounded and full of hilarity as he navigates his new “status.” Case in point — he jokes about how his life is not going to change “a lot”:
“I’m hoping now that I’ll finally be invited to some of those sexy dinners with [George] Clooney and [Brad] Pitt and [Michael] B Jordan. And I figure I’’ll be on a lot more yachts. I’m excited to expand my yachting life.
And I’ll probably try to get better at brooding in really soft light. I like to ponder. I think this is going to help me become more inward and mysterious. And I’m looking forward to that.”
He also sweetly said that he was aware of how people may be surprised when they hear the news:
“I do have an awareness, enough to know that when people hear that I’d be picked for this, they would say, ‘What?’ This is not false humility. There are so many people that should get this before me.”
We disagree. But we gotta say, it’s exactly that genuine humility coupled with his wit, irresistible charm, and that grin and those gorgeous green eyes that have made all of us go crazy over Paul Rudd.
Exhibiting that very same irresistible charm that we just mentioned, Paul jokingly declared that he was going to lean into his new title hard:
“I mean, I’m going to lean into it hard. I’m going to own this. I’m not going to try to be like, ‘Oh, I’m so modest.’ I’m getting business cards made.
But all of my friends will destroy me and I expect them to. And that’s why they’re my friends.”
