Scott Evans has got his brother’s back.
The 39-year-old actor is sticking up for brother Chris Evans and his girlfriend Alba Baptista.
In case you missed it, Chris and Alba have been dating for well over a year. The 42-year-old Marvel star and the 26-year-old Warrior Nun actress went Instagram official back in January.
When Chris and Alba’s romance went public, several fans expressed their dismay that he was no longer single. There were also concerns over the age gap between them.
In a new interview on the Viall Files podcast, Scott stated that he approves of Chris’ relationship with Alba. He also addressed the fan reaction to the couple, saying:
“It’s tough with everything… in the world, people can ruin things pretty quickly. It’s not getting better, it’s only getting worse.
The way people can be can make it pretty hard to date someone like that.”
He continued, saying this about hir brother:
“Because you think, ‘I’m just dating a person, he’s a guy’ and all of a sudden it’s article after article, after article. [And] everybody’s just being like you are a piece of crap to anybody he’s tried to date and just destroying them.
You can only take that for so long and it makes relationships kind of hard for him.”
Scott revealed that he constantly receives messages on social media from people who are confessing their love for Chris — and that many refer to him as their “brother-in-law”! He added:
“It’s been a slow burn over the years, it’s not like he catapulted into fame. We watched the internet happen. Twitter wasn’t around when he first started making movies so being able to just see it all… and what can happen… it can be a dark place and people can get very bold.”
