Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello are over.
The 51-year-old Modern Family star and the 46-year-old Magic Mike actor have ended their marriage. The couple have been married since 2015.
Sofia and Joe shared the news in a joint statement on Monday (July 17). They said to Page Six:
“We have made the difficult decision to divorce.
As two people that love and care for one another very much, we politely ask for respect for our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives.”
They were last publicly seen together back in June 2023 in Hoboken, New Jersey, where Joe was filming the up comedy comedy film Nonnas. Sofia’s last Instagram post featuring Joe was on June 29, when she shared throwback photos from a trip they took to Italy.
Earlier in July, Sofia celebrated her birthday. Joe was noticeably absent. He publicly wished her happy birthday on Instagram, but fans were quick to state that his message seemed cold. It was a simple “¡¡¡Feliz Cumpleaños Sofía!!!” – Happy birthday Sofia. They also observed that she did not respond to the post.
A source dished to Page Six about the breakup:
“Sofia and Joe have been growing apart for a while now and are taking some distance from each other to contemplate their future.”
Another source shared:
“At the start of Sofia’s big birthday trip those close to her were explaining away Joe’s absence with the excuse that he was busy filming back on the East Coast; that excuse barely held up due to the writers strike, but once the actor’s strike took effect, he could have been on the first flight… and he quite clearly is not.
So now no one out there with her is even attempting to pretend that it’s not over. It’s over. It’s done.”
The pair is said to have first met through Sofia’s Modern Family co-star Jesse Tyler Ferguson at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner back in 2014. She was engaged to someone else at the time. Later on, when she announced their breakup, Joe asked Jesse for her phone number.
