Jennifer Lawrence’s upcoming film Don’t Look Up has been creating a lot of buzz and it’s poised to be among the year’s most highly-anticipated movies. Written, produced, and directed by Adam McKay, the film is top-billed by both Jennifer and Leonardo DiCaprio — and with two major Hollywood stars headlining the movie, it’s no wonder that everyone’s excited for it.

But did you know that even though they share top billing, Jennifer and Leonardo did not share the same pay for the film?

In her new cover feature for Vanity Fair, it was revealed that Jennifer actually earned less than her male co-star. They shared equal billing for the flick, but most certainly not equal salaries. Apparently, she earned $25 million for her work in the film, while Leo earned #30 million.

This means that, as the reported stated, Jennifer made 83 cents to the dollar compared to Leo’s salary. This lines up with data and statistics reflecting that in 2020, women working full-time earned about 82.3 percent of what men were making.

So how did Jennifer react to the pay discrepancy between her and Leo?

Well, this is what she stated to Vanity Fair:

“Yeah, I saw that too… Look, Leo brings in more box office than I do. I’m extremely fortunate and happy with my deal.”

Apart from her humble answer, she touches more on pay parity and the prevalent inequality:

“But in other situations, what I have seen — and I’m sure other women in the workforce have seen as well — is that it’s extremely uncomfortable to inquire about equal pay.

And if you do question something that appears unequal, you’re told it’s not gender disparity but they can’t tell you what exactly it is.”

Don’t Loop Up also features a star-studded supporting cast led by Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett, Tyler Perry, Ariana Grande, Timothee Chalamet, Jonah Hill, and more. The film is set for e limited theatrical release on December 10 before streaming on Netflix on December 24.
