Fans were thrilled to see James Corden reunite with Justin Bieber when the Late Late Show host posted a photo of him and The Biebs on Instagram on Wednesday (January 22).
James and Justin have gotten together for The Late Late Show’s uber popular Carpool Karaoke segment twice before (in May and November 2015). And since Justin’s out with new music, fans speculated that a third one was probably in the works.
It’s definitely looking like those speculations might be true. Although the only clue James gave fans on what they were up to was just “Big day @justinbieber,” one social media user later shared a video clip of what appears to be the two of them inside a car and filming the segment.
The alleged clip appears to show James sitting in the the driver’s seat and Justin riding shotgun. The thing is, it looked like James wasn’t even driving the car – their car was actually mounted on some small wheels and was being pulled by a truck.
Many fans have since taken to Twitter to share their reactions.
“James Corden doesn’t actually drive the car whilst filming Carpool Karaoke, I feel I’ve been betrayed! 🤣,” one person wrote.
“James Corden’s carpool karaoke is a betrayal. Thought he drove during it. 😭” another expressed.
“the fact that james corden doesn’t actually drive during carpool karaoke must be the biggest lie since we found out that zac efron didn’t sing when he played troy Bolton,” someone tweeted.
BUT, everyone, calm down. The Late Late Show has since issued a statement that James DOES drive on “Carpool Karaoke” – most of the time.
“James always drives during ‘Carpool Karaoke.’ However, on the rare occasion when there is a stunt component and the producers feel it is unsafe to drive, we will use a rig (tow),” the statement read.
Stunt component? Sounds intriguing!
