Brendan Fraser is GQ’s Man Of The Year.

The beloved actor was heralded “Comeback of the Year” on GQ’s 27th annual Men Of The Year issue.

Brendan has been having a very well deserved career resurgence this past year. He has become an awards season frontrunner for his riveting performance in Darren Aronofsky’s The Whale, where he played a 600-pound writing instructor who is approaching the end of his life and desperately trying to connect with his daughter before he passes away.

He shared that he connected with his character’s sincerity:

“He tells his students, ‘Just tell me something honest. This is a pursuit for authenticity.’ And once they do, it’s liberating.”

He has been universally praised for his portrayal, and that praise has begun to build into an inspiring narrative that Hollywood loves: A comeback. Once one of Tinseltown’s most sought-after leading men, who then seemed to disappear from the limelight, Brendan is back center stage — right where he belongs. And he is right there marveling with us at his incredible return:

“I like people feeling like they’re getting to know me again. Because we’ve all grown a little older together.

[People often say at fan conventions], ‘Welcome back. Good that you’re back. I’m glad to see you back.’ And I say thank you. And some of them even go, ‘We’ve missed you. Where have you been?’ You know, like almost letting me know that I disappointed them. And the first thing out of my mouth is, ‘I was never that far away.’”
