Camila Cabello is opening up about what she’s learned about love while being in a relationship with Shawn Mendes.
Following their sizzling 2019 collab, “Senorita,” where many pointed out that their chemistry in the music video is off the charts. Soon after, they’ve been spotted packing on the PDA. They’ve since gone public with their relationship and have been going strong since – they even added a new member to their fam: a golden retriever puppy named Tarzan. The pair have since become one of music’s hottest couples.
With Shawn’s new era on the horizon, he’s been opening up a little bit more about his relationship with Camila. And it seems she’s reciprocating right back.
The “Havana” singer went on Instagram on Saturday (November 28) with a lengthy post about her beau.
“I’ve learned a lot about love with this guy. It’s not just the happy blissful moments you see in pictures and videos- When you’re in a relationship with someone, it feels like they are this mirror reflecting yourself back to you- I constantly have to confront my fears, my anxieties, my insecurities, my patterns of thinking, my beliefs about life and about myself,” she shared.
“It’s not as simple as it looks in pictures sometimes. sometimes, it’s messy and uncomfortable and ugly lol,” she went on to reveal. “But there’s nothing like the pull, the FORCE that is love, to be the light in the darkness- to be the gravitational pull that gives you the relentless strength to be braver,wiser, and better than you were yesterday.”
“It’s so instinctive for us to love, even if our minds try to protect us from it sometimes, but our nature as humans is to love. And to be in love means to choose that person over and over again, to go through the messy stuff with. And that’s way more beautiful and raw and real than perfection,” she continued.
Camila concluded her post by sharing why she’s okay with being vulnerable on social media.
“I’m all for being vulnerable on social media because I think only the neatness and perfection of life is shown on here; and that can make us all feel extra lonely and weird!” she wrote. “So raise your glass to the messiness and weirdness of being human and the miracle. And the easiness. And the instinct. And the relentless force that is love.”
In his documentary film, Shawn Mendes: In Wonder, he also opened up about how Camila has inspired his songs for years.
“My song comes on the radio or something and I’m like, ‘Everything’s about you. They’re all, they have always been about you,'” Shawn shares. “She goes, ‘What do you mean?’ Like, ‘They’re all about you. Like every song I’ve ever wrote.'”
And he also shared how being with Camila has changed his life for the better.
In a November interview with V Man, Shawn admitted to Elton John, who conducted the interview, that he “felt a little bit alone.” But, he says Camila helped him change all that by inspiring him to reconnect with family and friends whom he drifted from in the course of his career.
“I don’t know if it was something that was a ‘me thing’ or a ‘men thing,’ but I think for seven years, I was on such a speedy path down one way with blinders on, and I wasn’t keeping in touch with my family and friends,” he shares. “But when I landed with Camila, immediately she had her family around more. [She’s] all about the family and friends, and it really made me like, ‘Oh, I should call my mom.'”
“I started reaching back out to my family and friends and all of these connections I felt were further away,” he continues. “I felt a little bit alone out there and she changed that for me.”
