Cardi B is over the moon with Selena Gomez’s thoughtful gesture.
The 28-year-old rapper, who welcomed her second child with husband Offset just a month ago, went on Instagram Story to share a sweet gift she received from the Only Murders In The Building actress.
“I got this beautiful gift basket for son son… with this little bear from Selena Gomez,” the mom-of-two cooed in a video showcasing a lavish gift basket that was filled with assorted baby items for their newborn son – including a blue elephant plushie – as well as for her, too!
“It’s so cute and it’s got treats for me when, you know, I’m rocking the baby to sleep at night, you know I get hungry in the night time,” she continued, going on to gush, “This is so cute, thank you Selena Gomez! You’re so adorable.”
To those who don’t know, Cardi and Selena have been friends for years – ever since they worked together on the 2018 hit “Taki Taki” with DJ Snake and Ozuna. They also made a surprise appearance during DJ Snake’s set in Coachella 2019. And the two haven’t been shy about publicly showing support for each other over the years.
The two had nothing but kind words for each other when talking about their time working together on the set of their music video.
“When I met her, she was such a sweet, adorable person. She’s really what you see. She’s really a sweetheart,” Cardi told E! in October 2018.
“I’m obsessed with her [Cardi], and she’s so sweet and she’s very honest and I respect that,” Selena shared in 2019 interview with Entertainment Tonight. “When we got to work on the video, we were able to be there for a while and there was no pressure. Everything was laid-back. I just think she’s hilarious and she brings a fiery energy into anything.”
Cardi has also given Selena plenty of encouragement over the years.
When reports came out that Selena checked into a mental health facility for anxiety and depression in 2018, Cardi shared a message of support for the singer. “I just want to let her know, Girl, you’re beautiful, you’re rich and hold on, because even sometimes I feel like I’m losing my mind,” the “Bodak Yellow” rapper told E!. “I just got to pray hard to God and get away from social media.”
And when Selena revealed in her Vogue interview in March of this year that she’s thought about retiring from music, Cardi tweeted, “I don’t think Selena should retire. She makes good music & her fans love her. I think she needs one more Era. A edgy one that no one ever seen her as. I would love to give her some ideas.”
“I like Selena tho,” she continued. “I defend her cause she is such a sweetheart in person. Us celebs get picked apart all the time but she is just to sweet to go thru that. If she wants to leave, leave cause you want too not cause of these f–kers.”
When September rolled around, Selena assured fans that she will continue to make music, even though feeling like she always has to prove herself in the industry can sometimes affect her negatively.
“I don’t think I’ll ever quit making music,” she said. “I’m not saying I want a Grammy. I just feel like I’m doing the best I can, and it’s all about me. Sometimes, that can really get to me.”
