In an unexpected turn of events, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has revealed that he was approached about the possibility of running for President of the United States. During the debut episode of Trevor Noah’s What Now? podcast, the 51-year-old entertainer shared his thoughts on the surprising proposition and reflected on the support he has received from the public.

Dwayne has been a popular figure in the realm of American politics, with polls indicating significant public interest in him as a potential presidential candidate. Addressing a 2021 poll that showed 46% of US adults expressing their willingness to vote for him, Dwayne expressed his gratitude, stating, “That was an interesting poll that happened, and I was really moved by that. I was really blown away, and I was really honored.”

Another poll revealed an even higher percentage, with 58% of Americans indicating their desire to see Dwayne as the new US president. The actor and former wrestler then dropped a bombshell during the podcast, saying, “I’ll share this little bit with you: At the end of the year in 2022, I got a visit from the parties asking me if I was going to run, and if I could run.”

Describing the encounter as surreal and unexpected, Dwayne mentioned that they referenced the aforementioned polls and presented their own in-depth research, suggesting he could be a serious contender in the political arena. Despite the unexpected nature of the proposal, Dwayne was candid about his reservations regarding a potential political career. He admitted, “It was all very surreal because that’s never been my goal. My goal has never been to be in politics. As a matter of fact, there’s a lot about politics that I hate.”

Dwayne went on to discuss the impact such a career move would have on his family, particularly considering the lessons he learned from being a full-time professional wrestler while raising his now 22-year-old daughter, Simone. He explained, “With my 22-year-old daughter, Simone, we like to say that we grew up together. I know what it’s like to be in an occupation that took me away. As a pro wrestler full-time, I was wrestling 230 dates a year for years as she came into the world. So I know what it’s like to have that separation and not be there for the birthdays, for the pickups, the drop-offs, and everything else. And I don’t want that for my little ones now.

That was one of my primary discussions with the parties, who were ultimately like, ‘Yeah, but the other ones have done it like this.”

As the world contemplates the possibility of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson entering the political arena, his candid reflections provide a glimpse into the complexities and considerations surrounding such a decision, emphasizing the actor’s commitment to family and his reluctance to pursue a political career.
