Jonathan Majors has officially been charged for assault.

The 33-year-old Creed and Ant-Man and the Wast: Quantumania actor was arrested over the weekend by New York City police for accusations of assault.

The accusations state that he “strangled, assaulted and harassed” a woman.

Reportedly, Jonathan was released following his arrest. His defense lawyers spoke out about his legal situation.

Jonathan is now being formally charged.

Outlets report that he has been charged with “several counts of assault in the third degree, three counts of attempted assault in the third degree, one count of aggravated harassment in the second degree, and one count harassment in the second degree.”

In the official complaint made by the female accuser, she claimed that Jonathan did “strike her about the face with an open hand, causing substantial pain and a laceration behind her ear” and he also “put his hand on her neck, causing bruising and substantial pain.”

Jonathan’s lawyers denied the accusations, saying in response:

“Mr. Majors is entirely innocent and did not assault her whatsoever.

Unfortunately, this incident came about because this woman was having an emotional crisis, for which she was taken to a hospital yesterday.”

His legal counsel added that they “expect these charges to be dropped soon.”
