Millie Bobby Brown is no stranger to the spotlight now, but she had almost given up before her career even began.

The 16-year-old actress first rose to fame as Eleven on Stranger Things – but she recently revealed how close she came to quitting acting before landing her big break.

“I was very disheartened by the rejection which is something I tell everyone — this industry is just full of rejection 24/7. You get no’s, a lot of no’s, before you get a yes,” Millie told Jimmy Fallon during an interview on The Tonight Show.

Apparently, Millie auditioned for a role on Game Of Thrones – the fan fave character Lyanna Mormont, who appeared in seasons six through eight.

“I got a no for that. That’s kind of when I was like, ‘Oh, this is really difficult,’ and I guess I really wanted that role,” Millie continued.

FYI, Bella Ramsey landed the role of the Starks’ feisty young ally.

Just before she threw in the towel though, Millie decided to audition for a few more roles, including the project “Montauk,” which later turned out to be Stranger Things.

“So one of my last kind of gos at this was this Netflix show called ‘Montauk.’ I auditioned and two months later they got back to us and was like, ‘Hey we’d love to Skype with you’ and I Skyped with them, and the rest is history, of course,” Millie explained.

“‘Montauk’ was definitely the one that kind of gave me that hope of doing it all again,” she continued.

She’s since gone on to earn two Emmy nominations for her role as Eleven. Most recently, she also starred in the Netflix movie Enola Holmes.

As for the role that made her a star, she says she can’t wait to go back to work.

“Obviously I can’t wait to get back to work. I miss playing Eleven so much. It’s been quite a while since I’ve been on set with my friends,” she told the host.

And she may have low-key confirmed that Stranger Things Season 4 is already in the works.

Talking about a Stranger Things tweet with a photo of a clapperboard on set, she said, “I mean I guess that’s what they’re trying to say!”
