Angelina Jolie is ready for a new chapter — one that doesn’t involve living in Los Angeles full-time.

A source close to the 50-year-old actress told PEOPLE that Jolie is actively preparing to sell her historic L.A. estate and relocate abroad. But she’s not rushing into any decisions about her next destination just yet.

“Angelina never wanted to live in L.A. full time,” the source explained. “She didn’t have a choice because of the custody arrangement with Brad. She plans to relocate as soon as Knox and Viv turn 18 next year.”

Jolie purchased her Los Feliz home in 2017. Built in 1913, the property boasts Hollywood history — it was once owned by legendary filmmaker Cecil B. DeMille. While it has been the family’s base for nearly a decade, it was never meant to be a forever home.

According to the source, Los Angeles was more of a necessity than a preference. Jolie had to remain there for custody reasons after her split from Brad Pitt. Now, with their divorce finalized and her youngest children — twins Knox and Vivienne — approaching adulthood, she’s finally in a position to make a move. The twins will celebrate their 18th birthday in July 2026, giving Jolie the green light to make her long-envisioned change.

The actress herself has spoken openly about her desire to leave. In a past interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she said, “I am here because I have to be here from a divorce, but as soon as they’re 18, I’ll be able to leave. When you have a big family, you want them to have privacy, peace, safety. I have a house now to raise my children, but sometimes this place can be … that humanity that I found across the world is not what I grew up with here.”

While Jolie has yet to reveal exactly where she plans to go, one thing is clear: she’s ready to close the Los Angeles chapter for good. Once the twins are officially adults, she’ll be free to make that move — marking the end of an era for one of Hollywood’s most recognizable addresses.
