A new era at Vogue has officially begun.
After decades at the helm, Anna Wintour has confirmed that Chloe Malle, 39, will be stepping into the role of U.S. Head of Editorial Content, effectively making her the new leader of the iconic fashion publication.
Malle, who is the daughter of actress Candice Bergen and French director Louis Malle, has been a fixture at Vogue since 2011. Over the years, she has worked across print, digital, audio, video, and live events. She even made waves earlier this year by interviewing Lauren Sánchez Bezos for her now-famous Vogue wedding story.
From the beginning, Malle was considered the frontrunner for the coveted position, and Anna Wintour herself confirmed why.
“I believe that warmth, joy, experience, and keen vision are what Vogue will thrive on through the years ahead,” Anna told Vogue. “At a moment of change both within fashion and outside it, Vogue must continue to be both the standard-bearer and the boundary-pushing leader. Chloe has proven often that she can find the balance between American Vogue’s long, singular history and its future on the front lines of the new. I am so excited to continue working with her, as her mentor but also as her student, while she leads us and our audiences where we’ve never been before.”
Malle, who has spent much of her career learning every facet of Vogue, expressed her deep passion for the magazine.
“I’ve spent my career at Vogue, working in roles across every platform — from print to digital, audio to video, events and social media. I love the title, I love the content we create, and I love the editors who create it. Vogue has already shaped who I am, now I’m excited at the prospect of shaping Vogue. I look forward to embedding myself even more fully across print, video, and events — fostering the true cross-platform plurality that our audience craves and demands.”
Her appointment signals a generational shift at the magazine while also reaffirming Vogue’s place as a leader in both tradition and innovation. With Malle at the helm, fashion’s future looks bright — and very Vogue.
