Ariana Grande is speaking out after one of her songs was used in a social media post from the White House promoting Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations.
The Grammy-winning singer publicly criticized the use of her music after a White House TikTok video featuring ICE agents arresting and handcuffing individuals was posted using her song “Bye” as the soundtrack.
The situation quickly sparked conversation online, with many fans drawing attention to the post and questioning whether Grande had approved the use of her music. The singer wasted little time making her position clear.
“Please do not ever use my music in relation to this barbaric, inhumane, heinous nonsense,” she wrote in response, per Reuters.
The comment quickly circulated across social media platforms, though some users later noticed that it was no longer publicly visible on the post.
According to Variety, Grande’s representatives confirmed that the comment had indeed been posted.
“For some reason it’s not publicly visible,” a representative told the outlet.
The singer’s team is reportedly looking into having the song removed from the video altogether.
Grande has been particularly vocal throughout her career regarding social and political issues, frequently using her platform to advocate for causes she believes in.
This latest criticism continues that pattern.
The White House responded to Grande’s remarks in a statement provided to Variety.
“We’ll say this one last time: what’s actually barbaric, inhumane, and heinous are the criminal illegal aliens who have injured and murdered innocent American citizens.”
