In a significant personal milestone, Vivienne Jolie has officially finalized her legal name change. On Monday, November 2, a California judge approved the 18-year-old’s petition to remove her father Brad Pitt’s surname, legally changing her name from “Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt” to “Vivienne Marcheline Jolie.”

Court documents obtained by People confirm that the legal petition—originally filed in July just days after Vivienne celebrated her 18th birthday—was granted after fulfilling all statutory requirements under California state law.

To complete the process, Vivienne published formal legal notice of her name change petition in the Los Angeles Daily Journal once a week for four consecutive weeks between July 24 and August 14, granting a public window for any opposing parties to submit written objections prior to the final hearing. With no formal objections raised, the presiding judge officially sanctioned the change.

The public first caught wind of the shift in May 2024, when Vivienne served as an assistant producer alongside her mother, Angelina Jolie, on the Tony-winning Broadway musical adaptation of The Outsiders. In the official Playbill credits for the theatrical production, she opted to list her name simply as Vivienne Jolie.

With the ruling finalized, Vivienne becomes the fourth of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s six children to drop “Pitt” from their legal or professional names. Her older sister Shiloh Jolie, now 20, officially secured her name change in early 2024.In September 2026, legal petitions were granted for both Maddox Jolie, 25, and Zahara Jolie, 21.

As of November 2026, the former couple’s sons Knox, 18, and Pax, 22, remain the only siblings continuing to use the combined “Jolie-Pitt” surname.
