After nearly a decade of legal back-and-forth, Brad Pitt is finally speaking out about finalizing his divorce from Angelina Jolie—and he’s not making a big deal out of it.
In a new interview with GQ, the 61-year-old actor was asked whether he felt a sense of “relief” now that he and Jolie have officially settled their divorce as of December 2024.
“No, I don’t think it was that major of a thing,” he said. “Just something coming to fruition. Legally.”
The divorce wraps up a legal saga that began in 2016 when Angelina filed to end their marriage. Eight years later, the two have reached a settlement—but their family life remains complicated. The former couple share six children: Maddox, 23, Pax, 21, Zahara, 20, Shiloh, 19, and 16-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne. Reportedly, none of the children are currently speaking with Brad, and several have even taken steps to distance themselves by dropping his last name.
At the time of the settlement, Jolie’s legal team shared a statement: “More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt. She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family. This is just one part of a long ongoing process that started eight years ago. Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over.”
While Brad’s rep declined to comment on the settlement back in December, he’s now offering a glimpse into where he stands emotionally—and it’s all pretty understated.
Also in the GQ interview, Pitt addressed speculation that his relationship with jewelry executive Ines de Ramon is somehow a calculated PR move. The two have been dating since late 2022 and have made a few joint appearances over the past year.
They were first seen holding hands at the British Grand Prix in July 2024, and they made their red carpet debut at the Venice Film Festival a couple of months later. The timing of those appearances raised some eyebrows, especially since Brad is promoting his upcoming racing film, F1.
But according to Brad, none of it was part of some master publicity plan.
“No, dude, it’s not that calculated,” he said with a laugh. “If you’re living, oh my God, how exhausting would that be? If you’re living with making those kinds of calculations? No, life just evolves. Relationships evolve.”
Brad’s next big project, F1, is set to hit theatres this summer.
