When news broke that Brandon Blackstock had passed away at the age of 48 following a private, three-year battle with cancer, his obituary revealed a surprising detail: he was not only living a new life in Montana, but he had also found love again — with someone who once worked closely with his ex-wife, Kelly Clarkson.

Brandon’s obituary painted a picture of a man who had stepped away from the fast pace of the music industry to embrace a simpler, more rugged life. “After more than 20 years in the music business, Brandon found his way back to the mountains and the cowboy way of life he always wanted to live,” it read. “He found a homestead and a love in Butte, Montana.”

That “love” was Brittney Marie Jones, described in the obituary as Brandon’s “beautiful and loving partner in life and business.” Together, they poured their energy into Headwaters Livestock Auction and The Valley View Rodeo in Bozeman, Montana — ventures that will now stand as part of his legacy.

But their connection stretched back further than Montana. According to People, Brittney’s LinkedIn profile shows she worked as a production assistant for Kelly Clarkson from 2016 to 2018 while based in Nashville. She later transitioned into a more direct role with Brandon, becoming his executive management assistant in December 2018. At the time, Brandon was still serving as Kelly’s music manager.

Even while working closely with Brandon, Brittney’s job still included “assistant managed day to day artist schedule for Kelly Clarkson,” suggesting that she remained linked to both their professional worlds.

Things shifted again in June 2020, when Brittney took on the role of executive assistant at Brandon’s Montana ranch, V Bar B Cattle Co. That same month, Kelly filed for divorce. People reports that Brittney moved to Montana to work for Brandon’s ranch at the exact time Kelly initiated the split, though it’s unclear when their professional relationship turned romantic.

Their closeness was clear to those who knew them. Brittney’s father posted a heartfelt tribute to Brandon, referring to him as “my daughter’s soulmate” and adding that he “considered him my son.”

While the public may never know exactly when their love story began, it’s evident that Brittney played a significant role in Brandon’s final years — not just as a partner, but as someone who helped him create the legacy he left behind.
