Elon Musk has marked the terms ‘cis’ and ‘cisgender’ as slurs on Twitter.

In case you are not familiar with the said terms, the Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines “cisgender” to be a word describing “someone whose infernal sense of gender corresponds with the sex the person was identified as having at birth.”

Now, Elon is warning that using this term on hi social media platform may come with a heavy risk.

On Wednesday, he responded to a tweet by someone claiming that they were called “cis” despite of the fact that they said they “reject the word.” Elon said:

“Repeated, targeted harassment against any account will cause the harassing accounts to receive, at minimum, temporary suspensions.

The words ‘cis’ or ‘cisgender’ are considered slurs on this platform.”

Twitter was flooded to users who complained about the terms being categorized as “slurs.” However, amid all that JK Rowling voiced her agreement with what Elon did. The Harry Potter author tweeted:

“‘Cis’ is ideological language, signifying belief in the unfalsifiable concept of gender identity. You have a perfect right to believe in unprovable essences that may or may not match the sexed body, but the rest of us have a right to disagree, and to refuse to adopt your jargon.”

If you can recall, JK has made several controversial comments about the trans community.
