After years of legal proceedings, FKA twigs has formally ended her lawsuit against actor Shia LaBeouf. The British singer-songwriter, known for her boundary-pushing music and powerful presence, filed paperwork to dismiss her claims with prejudice, meaning the case is permanently closed and cannot be refiled.
Her attorney, Bryan Freedman, submitted the legal documentation. The court docket now reflects the dismissal, which was confirmed by Us Weekly.
Originally filed in 2020, the lawsuit accused LaBeouf of sexual battery, assault, and infliction of emotional distress. Among the most harrowing claims, twigs alleged that LaBeouf knowingly gave her an STD, pushed her against a car, and attempted to strangle her during their 2018–2019 relationship.
LaBeouf denied “each and every” allegation of wrongdoing. The case had been set for trial multiple times, but it was repeatedly postponed and no new trial date was ever confirmed.
In 2024, LaBeouf revealed that twigs was seeking $10 million in damages. Now, with the lawsuit behind her, the 37-year-old artist appears ready to move forward.
And she’s doing just that: FKA twigs is reportedly in talks to star in a biopic as Josephine Baker, the groundbreaking American-born French performer and civil rights icon. The film will be directed by Cuties filmmaker Maimouna Doucouré.
