Two decades later, Hannah Montana is stepping back into the spotlight — and this time, it’s with a sense of reflection.
Disney has officially released the trailer for the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special, giving fans a first look at what promises to be both nostalgic and newly revealing.
Set to premiere on March 24 and stream on Disney+ and Hulu, the special marks 20 years since the series first introduced audiences to Miley Stewart — a teenager living a double life as a global pop star.
The trailer opens with a moment that feels instantly symbolic: modern-day Miley Cyrus, fully herself, stepping back into the world that launched her career.
“Good to be home.”
It’s a simple line, but it carries weight.
Filmed in front of a live studio audience, the special blends performance, memory, and behind-the-scenes storytelling. Fans can expect live renditions of iconic tracks like “Best of Both Worlds,” alongside never-before-seen archival footage from the original series.
There’s also a more personal layer.
Miley will sit down for an in-depth interview reflecting on the show’s impact — not just on her career, but on her identity. It’s an opportunity to revisit a role that, for many, defined an entire era of pop culture.
The special will be hosted by Call Her Daddy podcast host Alex Cooper, adding a modern voice to a legacy project.
And it’s not just Miley returning.
Her parents, Tish Cyrus and Billy Ray Cyrus, are also set to appear, bringing a family dimension to the retrospective. Given how closely their real-life dynamic was tied to the show, their presence adds another layer of authenticity.
Visually, the special leans heavily into nostalgia.
Iconic sets are being recreated, including the Stewart family living room and Hannah Montana’s instantly recognizable closet — spaces that feel almost as familiar as the characters themselves.
Originally airing from 2006 to 2011, Hannah Montana ran for four seasons and became one of Disney Channel’s most defining series. It also expanded into film with Hannah Montana: The Movie in 2009, further cementing its place in pop culture history.
