As law enforcement officials in South Carolina and federal authorities in Los Angeles continue their joint investigation into the tragic passing of Hayden Panettiere, new reporting has illuminated the primary working theory surrounding the 36-year-old star’s sudden death on August 16.
According to sources connected to the investigation, authorities are actively probing whether the Heroes and Nashvilleactress unknowingly ingested a prescription oxycodone pill that had been fataly laced with synthetic fentanyl.Investigators believe Panettiere acquired counterfeit prescription medications from an established contact in Los Angeles prior to her flight to Greenville, South Carolina, where she was found unresponsive at a residence.
While toxicology findings from the Greenville County Coroner’s Office remain pending, federal agents with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) have formally joined the probe to trace the origin of the illicit narcotics.
