Marcello Hernandez may be known for sharp punchlines and quick-witted impressions on Saturday Night Live, but when it comes to his real-life love story, the origin moment is surprisingly wholesome.
The 28-year-old comedian and rising star recently shared how he first met girlfriend Ana Amelia Batlle Cabral — and it all started with a charity event and an awkward ask.
Marcello and Ana made their red carpet debut in July 2025, more than six months after they were first spotted grabbing dinner together. Since then, the pair have stepped out at a handful of events, sparking interest in the relationship while largely keeping things low-key.
During an appearance on Jake Shane’s podcast Therapuss on Wednesday (February 25), Marcello pulled back the curtain on how it all began.
“We met at a charity event in, New York, and a friend of hers wanted me to make a video for her dad because her dad was a fan,” Marcello recalled. “And then she was like — the uncomfortable friend that comes with the friend to do the asking for a video thing.”
Already charming.
The scenario is instantly relatable: being the plus-one while your friend asks for a favor. But for Marcello, that moment shifted.
“And then I just saw her and I got her Instagram and a year later, we finally went out,” he added.
Marcello’s star has risen quickly over the past few years. His tenure on SNL has solidified him as one of the show’s standout newer voices, blending cultural commentary with sharp observational humor.
